Ok, well honestly I did know but I had no idea there were so MANY different uses. We put together several of these to share with y’all.

Septic Care

 Regular use of baking soda in your drains can help keep your septic system flowing freely. One cup of baking soda per week will help maintain a favorable pH in your septic tank.

Clean Cars

Use baking soda to clean your car lights, chrome, windows, tires, vinyl seats and floor mats without worrying about unwanted scratch marks. Use a baking soda solution of 1/4 cup baking soda in 1 quart of warm water. Apply with a sponge or soft cloth to remove road grime, tree sap, bugs and tar. For stubborn stains, use baking soda sprinkled on a damp sponge or soft brush.

Gently exfoliate

Here’s a simple way to gently get rid of dead skin: Mix 3 parts of baking soda to 1 part water. Rub gently in a circular motion and then rinse clean.

Relieve insect bites

Make a simple paste of water and baking soda and apply as a salve onto affected skin.

Relieve Diaper Rash

Put two tablespoons of baking soda in your baby’s bathwater to help relieve diaper rash.

Simple Floor Cleaner

This is great for tile floors: Use 1/2 cup baking soda in a bucket of warm water to help mop and clean floors.

Clean Crayons from Walls

Apply baking soda to a slightly wet cloth and rub lightly. Wipe off with a clean, dry cloth.

Unclog Drains

Forget the harsh chemical drain cleaners. Use baking soda and vinegar to unclog your drain. Pour 1/2 cup Baking Soda into the drain followed by 1 cup of vinegar. Let sit until the foaming stops. Pour about a gallon of boiling water down the drain and you should be good to go.

Carpet Deodorizer

Stop buying that shaker bottle of carpet deodorizer at the store. Mix together Baking Soda, cinnamon, clove and/or pumpkin spice or whatever scents you like that are around your house in your cupboards. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let sit overnight. Sweep up what you can and then use a vacuum to suck up the rest.

Neutralize Gassy Beans

Sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda in the water when you soak beans to prevent gassy issue and improve digestion.

Settle a stomach during occasional indigestion

Stir 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda into 1/2 cup of water and drink for a safe and effective antacid.

Pots and Pans

Remove baked-on residue by shaking a generous amount of baking soda on pots and pans. Then add hot water and dish detergent, let sit for 15 minutes and wash as usual.

Dandruff

Fight dandruff by tabling the shampoo for a few weeks and massaging your wet scalp with a handful of baking soda instead.

Clean Toothbrushes

Soak toothbrushes in a mixture of ¼ cup baking soda and ¼ cup water; let brushes stand overnight for a thorough cleaning.

De-icing Sidewalks

Scatter baking soda on icy sidewalks―it’s not as corrosive as salt.

Hair Care   

A little baking soda into your conditioner and lather on your hair to keep it healthy and resistant to split ends.

Removing Splinters    

Mix a paste of baking soda and water, place over skin where the splinter is located. Cover with a bandage for 24 hours. When you remove the bandage the splinter should be sticking out far enough to grab it with tweezers and pull it out.

Use it as a natural fungicide  

Just mix 4 tsp of baking soda and 1 gallon of water. Use the mixture on roses for black spot fungus and also on grapes and vines when fruit first begins to appear.

Discourage pests in the garden

Sprinkle baking soda on the soil in your garden.  Rabbits, ants, silver fish and roaches do not like it and will stay away.  Kill slugs by putting it right on the pest. (don’t get it on the plants though.)
