I call this the “Secret Sauce” because it tastes great on just about anything you put it on.
This sauce works well with many different meats. My friend Julie puts it on lamb burgers and it is absolutely delicious.
This Tzatziki sauce even will work as a salad dressing. How’s that for versatile?
Not only is this delicious but it is truly simple. It is a one bowl recipe that comes together in no time at all.
I use a regular cucumber for this but if you would like, you could also use an English cucumber and forgo the de-seeding process.
I cut my cucumbers into a very fine dice but if you are someone that doesn’t like anything chunky in a sauce, you could also take this for a spin in the food processor before putting it in the refrigerator.
Just a quick note about Food Processors.
I have used many in my 50 plus years on this Earth and I have hated ever single one. However, that changed when I found this one. CLICK HERE TO SEE IT! There isn’t any twisting the base or lid on. It just slides on and then the lid clicks on.
Measure out all of the ingredients and throw them in the bowl and mix.
Yep, that’s really all there is to it!
Now I will give you a few pointers with this.
Some people will try to make this regular yogurt, don’t! You really need the thick, tangy Greek yogurt for this recipe.
I prefer to make this with fresh parsley and dill, however, I don’t always have those laying around at my house. The dried variety will work just as well, I promise.
That red wine vinegar is important, don’t skip it. It is one of those things that helps to give this Tzatziki it’s authentic Greek taste.
It is extremely important to seed those cucumbers. This is super easy to do. Peel your cucumber and then cut it in half length ways. Take a spoon and run it along the inside of the cut cucumber until you have all the seeds removed. It’s that easy.
